Ingredients
Pancake Mix
- 150 g wholemeal flour
- 2 eggs
- 250ml milk
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon vegetable oil (for the pan)
Healthy Toppings (choose 2)
- 1 banana, sliced
- 1 apple, grated
- Small handful blueberries
- Small handful strawberries
- 2 tablespoons plain yoghurt
- Small drizzle honey (optional)
Chef's Tip
Always wash your hands very well before cooking or baking.
Whisk the batter until there are no lumps!
Method
1. Make the batter
- Put the flour and baking powder into a bowl.
- Crack the eggs into the bowl.
- Pour in the milk.
- Mix with a whisk or fork until the batter is smooth.
2. Prepare the pan
- Put the frying pan on the hob.
- Turn the heat to medium.
- Add a small amount of oil and spread it around the pan.
3. Pour the pancakes
- Use a spoon or small ladle to pour small circles of batter into the pan.
- Leave space between each pancake.
4. Wait patiently
- Cook for about 1–2 minutes.
- Look for small bubbles on the top of the pancake.
- This means it is ready to flip.
5. Flip the pancake
- Slide the spatula under the pancake.
- Carefully turn it over.
- Cook for another 1 minute until golden.
6. Add toppings
- Put the pancakes on a plate.
- Add fruit, yoghurt, or a little honey.
Cooking reminders
- Pancakes cook best on medium heat
- Wait for bubbles before flipping
- Flip slowly and carefully
- Be patient — rushing can break the pancake
